THE SPLITLOGIC HANDBOOK
A little guidance.
For every shared bill.
Find the task you need. Each guide has a matching video entry, ready for its tutorial recording.
Before you begin: SplitLogic is still in development. These guides describe the planned launch workflows, not a publicly available app. Screens and steps may change. Screenshots of the final screens will be added before launch, with matching tutorial recordings as they become available.
01 / Organizer
Create your first group
Give your shared expenses a home.
- Sign in with a verified registered account. The organizer creates and activates the group; members do not need to register.
- Name your group, choose its base currency and add the people who will share expenses, including yourself.
- Follow the group activation steps, then share its invite link. The activation details will be explained before launch; this website does not take payments.
Choose the currency carefully: once the group has ledger activity, its base currency is fixed.

Join through an invite
Claim your name without creating an account.
- Open the invite link the organizer sends you. At launch, members will be able to join on iPhone or in a browser.
- Choose your own name from the list and confirm. A name can only be claimed once; do not select someone else's name.
- If your name has already been claimed by another device or the invite no longer works, ask a group admin for help.
An expired or frozen group cannot accept new joins. These joining features are still in development.

Add and split an expense
Record who paid and who shares the bill.
- Open the correct group and start a new expense. Enter what it was for and the amount, then choose who paid.
- Select everyone who shares it. All includes everyone, even names hidden by a search. You must select at least one person.
- Check the share preview and save. Wait for the server to confirm before treating the expense as recorded.
Equal shares include a deterministic allocation of leftover cents. For example, €10.00 across three people becomes €3.34, €3.33 and €3.33. Expense entry is planned for launch.

Understand your balances
Know what you owe, and how it was worked out.
- Open the group's balances or Settle Up view to see debts between each pair of people.
- Opposing debts between the same two people combine: if Dave owes Alex €10 and Alex owes Dave €6, Dave owes Alex €4.
- Use the planned calculation breakdown to check the expenses and recorded settlements behind a pair's amount.
SplitLogic never reroutes a debt through another group member. The money calculations are built; the member-facing balances and breakdown screens are still being developed.

Settle up and confirm payment
Pay outside SplitLogic, then record what happened.
- Check the amount and the person you owe in Settle Up.
- Pay them outside SplitLogic, for example using the planned Revolut payment link where the recipient has set it up.
- After the payment is complete, explicitly confirm the settlement in SplitLogic. Check that the record is saved.
Opening a payment app does not transfer money or mark a debt paid. SplitLogic does not move money. Settlement screens and integrations are planned features.

Review and split a receipt
Assign items before saving the expense.
- In an active group with scan credits, capture or choose a receipt image. Receipt scanning is planned for launch.
- Review the extracted items, amounts, tax and tip. Correct anything that was read incorrectly, and assign every item to its people.
- Check the total and everyone's share before saving. Tax and tip added on top are allocated in proportion to each person's items.
One group-owned credit is reserved per scan job. It is consumed when a usable review is produced, even if you later discard that review; a failed job releases its reservation.

Add an expense in another currency
Keep the original amount and a confirmed group-currency value.
- Choose the expense's original currency and enter the amount paid.
- Review the suggested conversion into the group's currency, or enter a confirmed base amount manually when needed.
- Check and save the conversion with the expense. The confirmed group-currency amount is what affects balances.
Later rate updates do not change saved debts. An expense in the group's own currency has the same original and base amount, with no stored exchange rate. Multi-currency entry is planned for launch.

Manage a group as an admin
Keep names, invites and group access in order.
- Use the planned members and settings screens to manage joined members and invite access.
- Reset an incorrect name claim when necessary, or rotate the invite link to stop the old link working. Rotating a link does not remove members who have already joined.
- Freeze the group when you want to stop expense writes and new joins. Viewing, repayments and management remain available.
Admin actions require server authorization. The last admin must keep access. These management screens are in the launch plan, not available publicly yet.

Understand group access and receipt scans
Know what to check before you activate a group.
- We’re working on budget-friendly group access. The pricing and purchase details will be published before launch; this website cannot take a payment.
- The organizer will pay at checkout and can choose to split the purchase cost with the group as a shared expense. This is optional: it is not added to members’ balances unless the organizer chooses it, and members are not charged automatically.
- Receipt scan credits belong to the group and are shared within it. Check the available credits before starting a scan.
Final access and billing instructions will be added before launch. When group access expires, the planned behaviour keeps history, settlements and management available while new expenses, scans and joins pause.

Get help with a claimed name or invite
Find the right next step when joining does not work.
- Check that you are using the latest invite for the correct group.
- If your own name is claimed on a device you no longer have, ask an admin to reset that claim. Do not join under another person's name.
- If the group is frozen or expired, ask an admin or organizer to restore joining access. For a revoked invite, request a new link.
These are instructions for the planned joining flow. For questions about the product before launch, email info@primelogiccsl.com.

What is a PWA?
A progressive web app (PWA) is a website you can add to your home screen and open in its own app-like window, without an app-store download.
SplitLogic plans to offer this on non-iOS devices such as Android phones and computers. An internet connection is still required for shared expenses; installation does not mean offline support. On iPhone and iPad, the planned options are the iPhone app or the browser version.
